Nutritionist-entrepreneur-woman-Aliya-Porter

Hi, I’m Aliya Porter, a Registered Nutritionist, mum of 3 and a lady with many hats!

I am passionate about helping my clients to break down the barriers they have to eating healthily. My strapline – healthy eating without chaining you to the kitchen or breaking the bank. I use the same principles in my own life and with my own family so I can give lots of practical examples. No food is banned, unless it is inedible of course!

I am an experienced Registered Nutritionist. I have worked in the voluntary sector, the NHS and in private practice. I have worked with people of all ages and many different backgrounds and love finding out about my clients so I can better support them.

I have been a Registered Nutritionist since 2006.

I am based in Manchester but offer services across the UK online.

What is a Registered Nutritionist?
Nutrition covers many fields. There are many people who claim to be professionals who do not have the recognised qualifications to meet your needs. If in any doubt, speak to your GP. Registered Nutritionists have at least 3 years experience and recognised qualifications using science based on evidence. There are certain areas which they are not qualified to deal with though so they will always point you in the right direction. There has been much bad press about nutritionists recently but this is usually about those who are not registered with the Association for Nutrition. You can trust a Registered Nutritionist, just as you can trust a Dietitian.

About my service

I offer a tailor made service. Here are some of the things I do:

  • one to one nutrition consultations

  • professional training and supervision of other nutritionists,

As a freelancer I have worked with a number of companies including the BBC, World Cancer Research Fund, Just Childcare, Phoebe AI, and a number of universities.

Great course! I found I so helpful to talk to someone about my context rather than just read a book. Would highly recommend!

Aliya helped me to review the supplements I was taking and I have also made some positive changes in my food choices following my appointments. I appreciated the input from a professional rather than replying on my own research as it felt a bit overwhelming to make important decisions about supplements & nutrition on my own. Aliya was easy to talk to, very knowledgeable and non-judgemental about the areas I was struggling with.

I can't recommend Aliya enough for anyone seeking application support for ANutr registration. Aliya guided me through the whole process with ease, professionalism and efficiency. She provided incredibly helpful resources for getting started with the process and was always on hand to answer any queries. The 121 session with Aliya was incredibly beneficial and provided me with a clearer direction and understanding of what my portfolio needed to include. I will definitely use Aliya's services again and would recommend anyone in the process of ANutr and RNutr registration to reach out to Aliya, she really is fantastic!

Being a first time parent can be daunting, but the courses at Porter Nutrition have ensured that I have plenty of confidence when it comes to mealtime and ensuring my little one has exactly what he needs to thrive. I’ve attended two courses at Porter Nutrition - the first on eating while pregnant and the second as a weaning course. Both were conducted mostly online. Aliya is a fantastic teacher and takes any question you can throw at her. Her class feels like a true safe space and it’s clear she is someone you can trust. Her hand outs are particularly helpful, so even if you aren’t the best note taker you have a handy reference to review later. Porter Nutrition has given me the tools I need to not only plan nutritious and fun meals for my family - but also to help encourage a healthy relationship with food. Would definitely recommend!!!

Aliya gave me lots of very good information regarding nutrition, allowing me to lead a very fit and healthy life style whilst being accomadating of my vegetarian diet. I was always good at exercising, however with Aliyas nutritional information, I was able to maximise my recovery and energy levels during my exercise. She gave me peace of mind regarding nutrition, moving beyond what I may read online and focusing on attainable healthy goals / changes. Focusing on long term sustainable changes rather with realistic and incremental adaptations. I'd definitely recommend her services for anyone seeking advice for how to make changes to the nutrition in a healthy way.

I attended Aliya's first foods course in sept '24 to learn about how to wean my baby. The course was very informative and helpful in getting me started on my weaning journey. Since we've been very successful at getting our little one to enjoy eating a healthy, balanced diet. He loves his vegetables, especially broccoli, and is happy and open to explore new textures, flavours and tastes. Aliya was incredibly knowledgable about the topic and answered all my questions fully. We are very grateful for all the advice and support Aliya has given us on weaning our baby.

I contacted Aliya Porter for help in regulating my diet and lowering my cholesterol levels. I had been given conflicting details in the past about which foods to eat - and which to avoid - so visiting Aliya and being given the beneficial information from her was really helpful. I would recommend her services to anyone.

I worked with Aliya in her capacity as a mentor and educator for other nutrition professionals. Her guidance for my Association for Nutrition accreditation reinstatement proved to be invaluable and I don't know how I could have done it without her. I highly recommend Aliya's services for fellow nutritionists.

I have just read Aliya’s article ‘feeding our teenagers’. I found it really interesting and it has helped me understand why our 11 year old son has started to need so much more food! He is really active and sporty so it would useful to know a little more about how we can best meet his nutritional needs - maybe an idea for a future article?

  1. I’d personally also like to express that most people that find themselves devoid of health insurance are usually students, self-employed and those that are not working. More than half with the uninsured are under the age of Thirty five. They do not feel they are in need of health insurance as they are young along with healthy. Its income is usually spent on housing, food, in addition to entertainment. Lots of people that do go to work either whole or not professional are not supplied insurance by their jobs so they get along without with the rising valuation on health insurance in the usa. Thanks for the thoughts you discuss through your blog.

  2. Please let me know if you’re looking for a article author for your blog. You have some really great articles and I believe I would be a good asset. If you ever want to take some of the load off, I’d absolutely love to write some content for your blog in exchange for a link back to mine. Please send me an email if interested. Thanks!
